Super Cup Final Preview: Xewkija Tigers vs Ghajnsielem FC

On Thurday, Xewkija Tigers will open their official commitments for the 2017/18. The Tigers will face Ghajnsielem FC in the annual Super Cup Final. This match is a meeting between last season’s league champions (Xewkija Tigers) and GFA Cup winners (Ghajnsielem FC). The two teams will meet each other in this final for the second consecutive year. A year ago Xewkija emerged victorious in a thrilling 5-4 result.

This is the first match of the new season, so one must surely talk about transfer ins and outs. Xewkija were busy throughout the transfer market. This was important in order to replace important departures such as Dene Shields, Claudio Frances, Steve Sultana and Shaun Bajada. In came Milos Stojanovic and Claudio Antunes from rivals Nadur Youngsters, Joseph Vella from Victoria Hotspurs, Omar Xuereb from Sannat and Franklin Vella from Kercem. All these players need to gel with the rest of the players who remained with the club.

Ghajnsielem FC

For Ghajnsielem, this was also a busy transfer-market. The Blacks put player/coach Shaun Bajada back at the helm. They also added Dylan Mercieca and Sam-Frank Bajada. As foreigners, Ghajnsielem confirmed Jhon Sandoval and signed Everton Felipe from Oratory Youths and Gerald Tusha from Xaghra United.
